Hello pickle fans,
Below is a recipe for pickles from Picklopolis, based in Portland, Oregon. They make delicious pickles and pickled vegetables! The website is http://www.picklopolis.com/
Their food is available at various stores, restaurants, and Farmers Markets around Portland, and they are available for sale on the website.
Below is one of their famous pickle recipes. I make pickles in the Pickle, Sauerkraut, and KimChi Maker.
Sour Pickles Recipe
Get some vegetables. Pickling cucumbers will do well. Wash them and trim them. Put them in a heatproof container.
Add:
10 black peppercorns
2 bay leaves
10 fennel seeds
1 dill head
1 pinch of dill leaf
1/4 cinnamon stick
1 clove
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch chili flakes
4 sliced cloves of garlic
In a 2 quart pot:
1 1/2 cups Cider Vinegar
1 1/2 cups Water
1/4 cup Pickling or Kosher Salt
Bring to a Boil.
Pour over vegetables and spice to cover.
Let cool to room temperature. Put in refrigerator. DO NOT PUT THE LID ON UNTIL COLD.
They will taste pickley in 2 days. They will be great in a week. Awesome in 2 weeks. They will keep for a long time. Enjoy the Sour Pickles Recipe

Today I made an incredible green smoothie recipe with my new BlendTec HP3A Home Blender. This is a great smoothie for use with a holistic healing program because you get a high amount of nutrients in an easy to digest form.
I used a teaspoon of David Wolfe’s raw cacao powder to give it a chocolate taste. The base of the recipe is two ripe bananas. The ripe bananas have brown spots on them, do not use green bananas!
The next ingredient is inspired by Ann Wigmore’s energy soup. She recommends using alot of sea vegetables such as dulse, kelp, arame, and wakame. These sea veggies contain the most minerals out of any other food. I purchase them from an Asian grocery store market because they are much cheaper than the health food store. I use a heaping handful of sea veggies in the smoothie.
Next up is a little fat to make the smoothie creamy. I use either a half avocado, or a half cup of fatty nuts such as macadamia nuts, cashews, soaked almonds, or pine nuts.
Next up is the protein. The best source of protein are seeds, or algae. I use a blend of hemp seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, and sesame seeds. I also use a tablespoon of E3 Live Klamath Lake Blue Green Algae.
The next ingredient is key to making a green smoothie. You need something frozen or cold. For this I use either a cup of ice, or a cup of frozen mixed Trader Joe’s berries.
The last ingredient is the leafy greens. I love kale, spinach, and romaine lettuce. I also like to use sunflower green sprouts, broccoli sprouts, and any other sprout you can find.
The last step is to blend up all ingredients in a 3 Horsepower blender, my favorite being the BlendTec HP3A.
If you need a little extra liquid, I recommend using young coconut water, or herbal tea. Enjoy your smoothie and have a wonderful day!
