I never realized that "staring" while reading was detrimental to my eyesight. I've worn glasses for 50 years and have visited eye specialists during that time. Never once did any of them ever give such practical tips as the ones you've given above, only stronger prescriptions! Now I know why I become so sleepy after reading just a couple of pages. Thank you for this information. I never realized that “staring” while reading was detrimental to my eyesight. I’ve worn glasses for 50 years and have visited eye specialists during that time. I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old. I wore contacts for a number of years. Now I am back to wearing glasses. I now can't see things close up with my glasses on. I had Lasik surgery 4 years ago, and it is wonderful. It cost only $1,492, and occasional dry eyes are ok using drops. The info you gave though is great. I alreay tried using the Bates reading method you said, and it is effective. I still wear glasses for reading, this is a good thing.
